Punta Mita Season Calendar 2026-27: Events, Whales and Holidays

High season on this coast has its own rhythm. Here are the dates that matter between November 2026 and April 2027, with a note on which are confirmed and which follow a yearly pattern.

November and December

October 30 to November 1: Catrinas Fest at Four Seasons Punta Mita, a Día de Muertos weekend. November 1 and 2: Día de Muertos in Sayulita. November 4 to 8: Poker & Paradise and the 15th Gourmet & Golf at Punta Mita. November 20: Revolution Day. December 12: the Guadalupe celebrations. December 16 to 24: the Posadas. December 14 to 30: The Spice Coast pop-up at Four Seasons, with a Midnight Tides New Year's Eve dinner at Nuna Pool.

January to April

January 6: Reyes. January 16 to 24: Bucerías' patron saint festival and Blessing of the Boats, which follows a yearly pattern but is not yet confirmed for 2027. Late January to early February: Festival Sayulita, with film, music, food, art and surf, again approximate. March 17 to 20, 2027: the Banderas Bay Regatta, run by the Vallarta Yacht Club.

Whale season

Last season ran from December 8 to March 23, and the notice came out on October 17, so the official 2026-27 dates were not yet published when I checked. Plan on early December to late March. The restricted zones are 1.5 kilometres around the Marietas Islands and a 2 kilometre coastal strip between Punta Mita and the mouth of the Ameca river.

The Marietas Islands

Visits to the Hidden Beach are capped at 116 people a day across all operators, in groups of 15 or fewer for about thirty minutes, with a life jacket required and only biodegradable sunscreen allowed. These rules have changed before, so confirm them with your operator.
